The Forum Campania Rom has been for a starting period of time (nov. 2011 – apr.2012) as an autonomous initiative of a coordination team made of people who are active members in pro-Roma organizations in Naples, in Salerno  as well as in other towns and villages of region Campania in Italy. The group has been administratively and legally hosted by the LAN for the first two years, and morally, logistically, and technically is still supported by individuals, Roma and non Roma and by many associations. Since April 2013 the group has become a regular NGO with legal status under the name of Forum Campania Rom.

The Forum Campania Rom brings together active individuals, families networks, local labour groups, initiatives, projects etc. which reflects the diversity of Roma groups living in Naples in the Campania Region: local Roma Italian citizens (like the ones living in Eboli, Agropoli, Nola and in Naples city, on a smaller number); Roma groups originally from former Yugoslavia asylum seekers; Roma from Romania or Bulgaria living and working in Italy as European citizens; women and men; single persons and communities of different religions; individuals and families living in ad-hoc camping and in ethnic Roma colonies; people living in conventional houses; etc.

The Forum Campania Rom act as “compensation room”, “contact point”, human voluntary resource, and organizational asset working for the establishment of a regional task force at the service of local institutions, non governmental organizations, and Roma representative.

The Forum Campania Rom is linked with the major European and National Roma cultural platforms, such as the European Roma and Travellers Forum, the Romanì Union, the Italian “Federazione Nazionale Rom e Sinti Insieme” and several others.
